Farmed in the sub tropical regions of Mexico, Brazil & East
Africa, Sisal is extracted from the Henequen plant, a member of
the Agave plant family. Course fibres are extracted from the leaves
and hung to dry in the sun before being beaten, bailed and sent
to be dyed & spun.
No pesticides or chemical fertilizers are used in sisal production,
and most weeding is done by hand.
Sisal is known for its great durability. It doesn't build up static
and doesn't trap dust, so vacuuming is the only maintenance required.
The different weaves and patterns available are unique to this fibre
and come in many natural colours.
It takes about 800 leaves to make one bail of twine.
Sisal rugs are stunning, practical and can add a wonderful natural
feel to any room in the house.
Sisal rugs can be used in Office, Stairs/Hall, Dining room,
Living room, Bedroom and conservatories
